Elaine and The City-Getting Ready Part #1

June 8, 2008 by elaineb

We were packed and ready to roll two weeks ahead of time.

So can anyone explain to me why my youngest son arrived at my mother’s house with the suitcase full of books? So

much happened, it will actually take me about 5 post to spill it out! So let`s start form the beginning.

In order to orchestrate the magnificent task of getting a family of 7 ready to travel, became a six week affair. You see the kids were going to stay at Grandma`s, my mom and best sitter award winner. Memorial Day was spent washing just about 11 loads of clothes for kids. That weekend we headed to the store and got Mr. Elaine his clothes. We bought 7 pieces of luggage, five for the kids, two for us. By the time the day was done all of us were packed and ready to roll, 2 weeks ahead of time. So, can you explain to me why my youngest son arrived at my mother’s house with a suitcase full of books?

One week before lift off…

My order never arrived, clients called daily with emergencies and stress caused me to get a red patch on the right side of my chin. Thank goodness for Elizabeth and her honey and milk treatment. It worked almost immediately.

“Wow, you must be about to be handed something really amazing when you go.” Morgan said. I sure was hoping so! Much more than what I mentioned here happened, MUCH more. The stress was overwhelming and I started to question whether my trip was worth this much trouble at all.

Why and where was I going?

I was going to Manhattan, but I was staying in Plainfield, NJ, which is just a train ride away. I had three reasons for doing this:
1. to meet a girlfriend who lives in Manhattan
2. to meet with a few Divapreneurs, a network I had created earlier and
3. to have a much needed vacation and overdue honeymoon with my husband. My last “vacation” was obligatory, it was a funeral in 2005, prior to that 2003.

4. to meet with an art rep who is interested in my work.

Too much was riding on this trip, so canceling was not an option. Reservations were, friends were waiting and appointments were set. So when the day arrived…
