Simply Retro Chic

My trip to NYC made me realize that, well, I am right to love retro. Specifically Mid Century Modern chic and having confirmation by one of my favorite design houses, makes me all the more giddy. Ralph Lauren has a gorgeous set up that feels oh so nineteen fifty fab, Or 40 fab, I mean… Look at the picture! He even had a very art deco display with a gorgeous peacock and lots of greenery and a red purse in the middle.

Can you beat classic white on black and pink accents? If Ralph Lauren likes, I love! But he is not the only one, Vivaldi Boutique, one of Harper`s Bazaar recipient of the Style Leader Award, also sees a winner in the red ensemble below.
Style comes back around. It`s good to be aware of the trends but a classic never dies. So what does this mean for web design?

- Prints are still in-DUO tone!!! See the first picture.
- Use a accent color that is in color harmony with the background.
- If your background is dark, use light color accents and foreground.
- If your background is light, use dark color accents and foreground.
- Make sure your site does not detract attention from what matters-Your product!
- Manipulate elements and colors to frame your content.
- Keep it uniform, don`t stray from your color scheme!
- Use the 2 neutrals one primary formula. Er go Black, white and red.
So this is what I created. Background is dark, foreground light. There are no stray colors and the only accents are on the pictures.
